I understand why theorists would want to separate sexism into two categories: hostile and benevolent. But I think that is putting a spin on it that hides the fact that both types of sexism are hostile. It's like saying there are two types of racism (hostile and benevolent). Both racism and sexism serve a purpose: they feed and construct an apparatus of coercion to control others.
